Texoma

So we recently went camping at Lake Texoma. We spent the 25th thru 29th right on the beach surrounded by rocks fossils and water. It was so relaxing and the lunar eclipse (Blood Moon) was absolutely beautiful. I played my bamboo flute every night, it was a magical weekend. We hiked up and down the beach and found rocks, minerals and fossils.  We found a lot of the blue stones with spots of quartz that are amazing in the sunlight; I’ve started calling them dragon eggs. Tons of moon stones that shimmer in the water when it’s still.

There was a lot of silt left from the earlier month’s massive rainfall so it was slippery in spots out in the water but I floated so I wouldn’t feel it lol ewww. There was a lot of falling trees and dead plant life because the water was so high. It made me really sad to see all the trees down, like fallen brethren on a battlefield. Some of the houses seemed to be only feet away from the water now, there was so much earth devoured by the lake. I suppose next year if we see this much rain they will meet their untimely doom. A lot of the locals told us the rain was ongoing and they didn’t think it would stop.

Lighter side is that the fish are plentiful and so are the fossils and arrowheads. We were told where to find arrowheads but didn’t get around to it, my husband said he didn’t trust the guy lol maybe it was his few teeth he had or the beat up golf cart he was parading around in, but we found a lot of fossils anyways.

We swam all day and every day we were there, the fish swam right with us. It was kind of surreal to watch my little swim around in schools of fish; they would jump out of the water all around her head when she splashed it was to funny. She didn’t even care that there were bigger fish swimming after them; she was just there to swim. She would yell at me to watch the fish jump and laugh when she seen the bigger fish chase them.

I was always scared to swim by myself especially around schools of fish lol I knew there were more ferocious fish lurking about and it just freaked me out lol I’m a big wiener when it comes to anything scary or even borderline scary. I tend to pass out when I’m scared, there’s poor Rainbow passed out in the water because a big fish looked at her lol luckily I can float like a bobber!

We watched osprey dive for fish and lazy buzzards waiting on the shore for leftovers. We saw one rogue eagle too. The ospreys are beautiful birds but hard to capture pictures of so I found a few pics with google. It’s amazing how they can dive into the water catch a fish and hop out and fly away just like that. They would fly over and check out our campsite and it almost looked as if they were looking us over.

My hubby had fun picking on one of the buzzards by sneaking up and scaring him when he was eating lol he started to fly real low to our campsite after that. We watched the eagle fly by an osprey and thought we were going to see a battle but the osprey chickened out after the eagle turned and showed him who was bigger lol he knew who the cock of the walk was.

We met some of the neighbors on the hill, an elderly couple that lived like 30 year-olds; they came down to the beach to ride their seado around. They were really nice and they were rock and fossil collectors so that was awesome. They knew my husband’s grandparents so that was pretty cool. The wife was super excited about the Blood Moon and she said she was jealous that we had the best seats in the house. They were really nice and down to earth people.

My little kept telling me to come swim and I was telling her I was on my way lol I wasn’t ;) the elderly man told me to get in there and listen to that kid lol “you better mind her!” he said. He was funny. He said during the flood some young boys were fishing and catching fish like crazy off their beach and they had a huge piece of Styrofoam they were sticking their poles in so him and his buddies waited till they weren’t around and kicked their “pole barge” into the water and watched it float away lol old men are just as bad as young boys!

We took glow stick bracelets and put them in our little’s tent so she could have a nightlight, it was her first time in her own tent. On our last night we dressed her up in them and she ran up and down the beach, it was awesome. When she ran out so far all we could see was her glow sticks because it was so dark. We decided to be glow stick zombies this year for Samhain (Halloween) because of it.

We are so proud of our little sleeping in her own big girl tent, she was right in front of the door of ours so we could see in all night, she did great! I know if the neighbors on the hill were watching the last night they would think we were some kind of alien’s lol or just plain crazy.

Well we had a blast on our trip but I do feel bad because we invited some family members and then at the last min we backed out because we thought we would be to broke but then we said screw it and left for Texoma, I never told my family that we were going anyway. I hope they forgive me

PINKY!!!

I recently had surgery in early august on my pinky, I had the flexor tendon reattached (the one that bends it). It’s been the worst pain I’ve had and annoying to deal with. I’ve been going to physical therapy every week but still no progress. I seen my surgeon last week and he said the surgery did not work there was just too much scaring so now I have to have another surgery in November. The Dr. said this next surgery he is going to graft off my tendons below my wrist so the procedure is going to be a lot more work.

I was cutting an apple and trying to watch old school Gabby cartoons at the same time “ALLS WELL!” This was back in late march early April needless to say granny smiths are banned in our house and Gabby can kiss my butt!

I’m getting to the point where I’m about to go off on the next person that tells me “why it’s just your pinky”. I’ve been having family and people I don’t even know tell me this and if they would just put their selves in my shoes they would understand and stop being so inconsiderate. No one realizes that half of your strength in your hand comes from your pinky. You can’t grab a “handful” of anything or pick up heavy things without it. On top of that you can’t fold your pinky in so it sticks out ready to be injured all day long.

I love taking change from a cashier just to drop it all on the floor or even the ground by the car! I got mad at the hubby one day and tried to make a dramatic exit and slammed it in the front door. I definitely can’t pick stuff up without jabbing it into the table or floor. Everyone who knows me can tell when I’ve hurt it cuz all I can do is scream PINKY!!!

Yeah the family can’t understand why unless the go through the same as me but at least they won’t ask again about it. Now strangers and random passersby will always ask and put in their input because I won’t see them on a daily basis. If someone is truly worried or even intrigued about it then be a little more considerate in the way you ask. I love talking to people and making new acquaintances but here lately I just want to avoid anyone who has any comments on why I have a brace on my hand and arm.

Occasionally ill have a battered woman comment thrown at me lol I come back with “my hubby is the one that should be scared!” well every once in a while I will get him in the grocery store with “yes honey but please don’t hurt me again” lol He likes to act like a drunk hillbilly to make fun of me when we go out in public so it serves him right!

My hands are my future, they are my livelihood and I need them for my job as an artist. It’s been a tough battle but hopefully I will win this next round!
Later dayz..

I got bored so I doodled :)

I've been calling it my pecker lol like I'll peck you but my 6 yr old says it to and people stare. Get a grip and grow up people lol

BLEACHING MY HAIR

So I've been changing my hair style color and cut for years and years but these past few years I’ve really broke out the rainbow palate on my head! I always bleach my hair out first so I can achieve the brightest color as possible, I guess I’m a little dramatic but I’ll still deny it ;)

Next time I won’t wait as long to touch up my roots, I had surgery and I’ve gotten a little lazy lol but that is a whole different topic I'll explain in later days.

Anyway my favorite product is quick white it comes in small tubs but if you’re a regular lightener like me buy the big one it really is a better buy. I use any developer but I stick to 30 or 40 volume because I hate waiting around forever.

I have had some major malfunctions in the past with the high volume and I mean MAJOR lol Like when you take the foil off your streaks or highlights and YOUR HAIR COMES WITH IT! Or you think you could use your braid as a bungee cord because its sooo over processed. OR after you shower and blow dry your hair it BREAKS OFF LIKE STRAW IN YOU BRUSH! So yeah after that happens to you like 200 times you kinda become a pro at it.

Alright down to business, let’s get this show on the road! The directions on this stuff is pretty explanatory but I always do equal parts of both or you can add a little more developer if it’s too thick. It mixes up really fluffy and be sure to open a widow or leave your bathroom door open because the fumes could choke a donkey.

My husband always bitches about the smell; he says I’m killing everyone’s brain cells. This coming from a professional cabinet maker who doesn’t wear a mask when using stain or polyurethane, TOO LATE FOR YOU BUBB! lol I love you honey. I’ll just wait till everyone is at work and school and damage my own brain thank you very much.

Always work from the root out (touch ups) because they will need the most time to process. This stuff is pretty smooth so you could use an applicator bottle but I usually use a bowl and brush, easier clean up unless you’re throwing your bottle away.

My hair is really processing quickly, damn quicker than I thought! It was almost done in the front by the time I got to the back and I work pretty quickly.

Let it set until you’ve reached your goal level. You can help out by using a processing cap or a loose shower cap and then hitting it with the blow dryer for a few mins but be careful not to lose track of time. I let mine set about ten mins and I reached my goal without over processing so it’s really about keeping an eye on it.

When you wash it out make sure you get all the bleach out and use a no residue shampoo, it helps a lot. You can use a toner shampoo or even a toner that goes in the bleach to help get rid of oranges and yellows but they don’t bother me unless I’m going platinum. Don’t forget to condition!

I almost forgot, if you notice during processing that some of your hair is to the level you want but the rest isn’t you can spritz that area with water and it will stop the processing.

My sister went to cosmetology school so she used me as a practice head, I always remember “wet is set”. We had a lot of trials and errors lol She even gave 3 foot micro braid extensions at one time and I pierced her belly button, and it got infected but that’s another story!

I’m going to do some different colors next but I have no clue when that will be, lol perks of having add, but when I do its going to be magical!

Later dayz!

A bit about me.

Everyone knows me as Rainbow because I'm free spirited and have multi colored hair and sometimes dreads. I am a pierced and tattooed stay at home mom and wife that loves anything art. We are a pagan family but tend to keep it to ourselves because of the ill feelings of our way of life but don't get me wrong we do tend to flaunt it. I'm a huge DIYer and I love to do crafts, I spend most of my time learning new arts as well as construction. We take a lot of trips to because we are rock/mineral and fossil hunters so you'll be seeing quite a bit of that YAY!! I've learned a lot of things in these past years and figured I could just blog about whatever comes to mind or anything that I just need to get out there. When I say anything and everything I mean that, I'll even be open to suggestions. I spend a lot of time by myself and sometimes I need to tell someone something but not have the chit chat. I'm very new to this, I don't even have a facebook! ha ha If this isn't your style please don't leave any comments they will be deleted. I hope your excited about my future blogs I have a lot to share with everyone!
